Thearticle that I read was about different types of rocks. Metamorphicrock is from through a process called metamorphism this is where arock is subjected to very high heat and pressure. The size ofcrystals of minerals in igneous rock isby rate that magma cools.There are four basic textures of igneous rock coarse fine-grained,glassy, porphyritic and fine grain.
Themagma chemical composition greatly determines the mineral structureof an igneous rock. According to Jacobs (2013), the mineralscrystallize very well as magma cools. There can be the formation ofmore than one type of rocks from the main magma this is because ofchange in the crystal settling.
Theresponse of the surface materials to a changing environment isweathering. The conversion of physical material into small fragmentsis through a process called mechanical weathering. It is byexpansion, biological activity and wedging from unloading. Chemicalweathering is a process whereby the inner mineral structure ofminerals is tampered with by adding or removing of elements. Thishappens during oxidation where they react with carbonic acid(Jacobs, 2013).
Detritalsediments materials are and originate as solid particles that are byweathering. Chemical sediments are by either organic or inorganicprocesses they are soluble materials largely produced by chemicalweathering. Detrital sedimentary rocks have quartz and clay as themain constituents. They contain a variety of mineral and rockparticle fragments and are by the size of the particle. Chemicalsedimentary rocks always contain biological processes products suchas mineral crystals or shells that form as minerals precipitate andwater evaporates. Lithification is a term used to refer to theprocesses that transform sedimentary rocks into very solidsedimentary rocks.
